On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, Birthright Israel Foundation was graciously hosted by several donors at the Gables Club in Miami for an exclusive lunch featuring former IDF solider and tour educator Noa Tadmor. We are thankful to our host committee, Carolyn and Mel Miller, Nadine Foldes, Zelda Schwebel, Roz Berrin, Barbara Furman, Nedra Kalish, Dorothy and Aaron Podhurst, for making the lunch a success. Nadine Foldes opened the program with touching remarks about her passion for Israel and the greater Jewish community.

She was followed by Miami Leadership Council co-chair Howard Socol who gave an important update regarding Birthright Israel’s programs. Howard reminded those in attendance that the time is now to step up and support Birthright Israel when 20,000 young Jewish adults will be left behind due to a lack of funding and increased costs. Noa Tadmor then spoke about her personal journey as an Israeli on the program and how the education comes to life for each participant. Noa’s story made a case for why Birthright Israel is a crucial step in the lives of young Jews. The lunch ended with closing remarks from Mel Miller. Mel spoke beautifully about his and Carolyn’s support of the classic 10-day trip.

“We want those 40 young Diaspora Jews to understand that they are part of the people defined by Am Yisrael Chai…Only we can preserve Judaism for our great-grandchildren and their progeny. We all hope that the examples of our lives and the teachings of our shuls will sustain L’dor V’dor, but only Birthright provides us with hard data and metrics, showing that its alumni have more pride in their Judaism, and are more inclined to preserve it from generation to generation,” shared Mel.
