On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, Birthright Israel Foundation supporters Lyn & Barry Chasen hosted an intimate and inspiring evening for their community in support of Birthright Israel’s mission. Lyn opened the evening by showing gratitude to the nearly 300,000 people, including hundreds of Birthright Israel alums, who attended the March for Israel.
Three Birthright Israel alums, Arielle Becker, Gabriella Guez, and Doron Shapir then shared how their 10-day Israel experiences profoundly impacted their lives and those of their families. Arielle Becker spoke beautifully about how her firsthand experience of Israel helped her stand up for Israel during antisemitic incidences on college campuses. Gabriella Guez followed Arielle by sharing how she grew up with no connection to her Israeli roots and, through her trip, is now a proud Jew working to help Israel during the war with Hamas. Doron Shapir, an Israeli participant who has staffed seven trips, shared that the Birthright Israel is crucial to the Israel-Diaspora relationship. The gathering came to a close with a beautiful performance of Jerusalem Shel Zahav by Israeli opera singer Shir Rozzen.
