Following the October 7th attack, siblings Ally and Daniel Rodnunsky turned to music as a refuge and a way to express their solidarity with the Jewish community and Israel. “Only One Home,” their powerful song born from pain, brings awareness to the tragedy while offering solace to those affected.

“Israel has always held a special place in my heart,” shares Daniel, who knows Israel well after having visited seven times, including a transformative Birthright Israel trip. “This song, ‘Only One Home,’ aims to commemorate the Jewish people’s enduring struggle against antisemitism and serves as a tribute to those who dedicate themselves to our protection. It underscores the imperative of strength in the pursuit of peace within a world filled with hate.”

For Ally, the connection to Israel runs just as deep, forged through her Bat Mitzvah there and countless visits, including participating in a Birthright Israel trip and student exchange program. With a personal link to the tragedy—having hosted an exchange student who lost seven friends in the attack—she knew action was paramount. “Hearing her pain alone was excruciating,” Ally confides, “and I wanted to help in any way I could.” This desire birthed the music video, a powerful extension of the song’s message.

“Only One Home” is more than just a melody; it’s a testament to the healing power of community and the unwavering hope that shines even in the darkest times. As Ally aptly puts it, “It was an incredible experience to see an army base and the strength of soldiers while on Birthright. This memory keeps me strong during times like today.”

We, of course, must also mention singers and sisters Alexandra & Romy Stravinsky, who aided in bringing the lyrics and melodies to life. Alexandra hopes to participate in Birthright Israel this coming summer.

In the face of tragedy, the Rodnunsky siblings found their voice in music, reminding us that even amidst the bleakest moments, the human spirit can find solace and rise, finding light in the darkness through the unifying power of song.
